Yes, we took a lot of planes, been in the car all day, and keep running into people from the UK! Otherwise our day consisted of flying into Sacramento (2 flights and not sitting next to each other), renting a car which was booked for the wrong airport, driving through napa, mendocino and eventually wound up in Fort Bragg where we are now at a cute bed and breakfast.
Since this trip/blog is focused on all things raw I'll let you know what today's findings were!
At the Minneapolis airport there wasn't much raw food that didn't have some sort of chicken slapped on top of it. So, to get as vegan as I could, I actually found a salad that was labeled "vegan". It wasn't all raw but it was delicious. It included mixed greens, beets, carrots, tomatoes, sunflower seeds and tofu, plus vegan dressing. It did the job!
After that we drove through napa and stopped at a grocery store called Sunshine Foods to get some goodies! Our first raw product was sunflower brittle. Bob has found a new favorite food! Then we made a pit stop at the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) where of course I was super excited to be at! Then we proceeded to drive to Mendocino through the redwoods which were gorgeous! We drove to a place called Corners of the Mouth which is basically an organic grocery store in a church! It was awesome! We picked up some goodies for our trip which I will blog about when we eat them :)
Then we drove up the street to eat at Ravens which was the only vegan (raw and non raw) restaurant in town that happened to be open today! We tried to get as raw as we could but it wasn't the easiest today! We shared the sushi (all of the food was vegan though), and Bob had the creamy polenta and I had the quinoa wrap. We also both had some VEGAN wine and flavored water (water with fruit and flowers soaked in it) which were delish!
To wrap up our day, we found a quaint bed and breakfast so we can catch some zzzzzzz's and be on our way for tomorrow! remember, it's only 8:30 here but 10:30 at home and we've both been up since 4 am! See you tomorrow :)
